I have historically given Sophie three choices of things she can choose to do in a sticky situation. They are along the lines of 1.) stop now, be good and go to do something fun (park, "Donalds", go shopping.) 2.) stand in the corner and work out your tude. 3.) continue throwing a fit and get grounded to your room and Flynn has to suffer from your bad choice too. This has been going on for months and I do have to admit we usually end up going home to be grounded. I figure someday it will hopefully click that she never gets to do fun "stings."
For the last couple of weeks she has been giving me "lots of choices" of fun "stings" to do. They are along the lines of 1.) go to the park. 2.) go to "Donalds". 3.) go shopping to look at clothes. 4.) go to the zoo. 5.) go play with Rowyn. It absolutely slays me that she does this. Coming up with choices for me. It is amazing they never include such things as cleaning her room. LOL. As you know I have not been feeling well so I caved and I chose one of her choices today. I called my BFF and asked her to meet us at "Donalds."
The adventures that ensue when voyaging off to "Donalds" are sometimes quite amazing if you open your eyes. Today we did the usual falling down when asked to put shoes on, running off when asked to put pants on, and playing "clay dough" even though she was the one who asked to go to "Donalds." She did the high drama routine of "I am SOOOOOO hungry I can't even stand." This is often the routine and then we get there and I spend the entire time forcing a burger down her throat. We tackle all the drama and the obstacles and get out the door.
The first thing they see is dozens of "Dandy Lines." Pandemonium erupts and it is a mad dash to see who can get the most. "Mommy, does everyone in the whole world plant 'dandy lines' for me to pick?"
"Yes Dear, it appears they do," rolling my eyes and at the same time graciously accepting my bouquet because I am allergic to the stupid, ugly, disgusting weeds.
We did some fun "stings" like run around and pick all the dandy lines, spin round and round, and squeak at birds. We made a special safe place for the "dandy lines" to travel by car with us. Finally, we are off to meet J.J. who has most likely been waiting a while.
We get there and I tell her of the adventures of "dandy line" picking. What does she do? She reaches in her her pocket and pulls out her "very special dandy lines" that her son picked for her today. Awe, great minds think alike.
As much as I hate them, dandelions made for a fun subject today.
