Memorial

I spent Memorial Day working, which always consists of a bizarre collage of events.  Today was no different.  I armed us with donuts, preparing for the onslaught of hell I experienced during the other holidays in the past 9 months.  *Insert Crickets Chirping* Um, I can only guess people had hotdogs stuffed in their pouts.  Good news is I got caught up on trainings and everyone's beezwax.  I rarely get a chance to just learn about my peers, so it was a welcome treat.

Honoring Grampy

Showing off Chuck E Cheese Fangs

I did get to visit my Grampy's grave yesterday.  It doesn't matter how long has been I still tear up and get all sobby and stuff.  He was a perfect grandpa and an ex navy sailor.  He was really special to me and the first person in my life that I was super close to that has died.  When my parents were acting a fool my Grammy and Grampy filled in quite nicely and dutifully.  I am eternally grateful to them and think about them both everyday. My Grampy's ashes are in an urn in the courtyard at church.  Every week I think of him and have a little cry. I miss him so much.

Last night we went to the cemetery and watched a fireworks show.  I use "we" lightly since Flynn spent the entire show with his fists balled up in his eyes, and screaming his lungs out.  It was an excellent show and we were right under the fireworks.  Sophie had a blast.  We drove by my Great-Great-Great grandparent's graves and my Great Grandparent's grave  I reflected a lot on how so many brave men and women have given the ultimate sacrifice so I can walk freely and proudly as an American.  Then I think about how I fear we are losing our freedoms bit by bit.  We are no longer the "freest" nation.  Sad.

Saturday after work I got to celebrate my son crapping on the toilet for the first time.  He got to go to Chuck E. Cheese. YAY!!  Potty training a boy is the least desirable task I have experienced as a mom.  AGGRAVATING!!  Hopefully it will be easier from here on out.  Please, please, please let it be easier.

Other than having to repair the damage that occurs when I go to work, this has been a pretty good weekend.
