Today I am a worrier. Normally I am full of the sass and silly stories but today I have a heavy heart. All I can think about are things that bring me to my knees crying. My very good friend at work is half Japanese. Her mother is from Sendai which was completely swept away by the recent tsunami. She is missing some of her family and no one knows where they are. She said her mother's family has lived in Sendai for hundreds of years and most of them still live there. I am just sick over it. She says there are many shelters set up for the victims of this disaster and they are praying her people are somewhere among them. Communications are cut off because the rail lines, roads and phone lines are effected.
I am so amazed at how poised the Japanese people have been in the face of this disaster. They are truly pulling together to help each other out. Never do you see videos of looting and further destruction by the citizens. I have seen some footage of the destruction that our news media does not show us and the devastation is beyond what I can put into words. I think it is the most horrible thing I have ever seen. I am going to pray and pray hard for everyone effected by this.
My dearest little Savannah is in hospice care and having a lot of pain. If you have a moment to spare please pray for her comfort. Please help spread the word on childhood cancer and raise your voice for a cure. It is the number one killer of our children and so many are suffering. It breaks my heart completely to know this sweet child is suffering. She is really weighing on me today. I have never met this little girl but her story has helped open my eyes and motivated me to help do what I can. Once I open my store I am working on a plan to donate certain proceeds to fund childhood cancer research. I love you little Savannah.
Two years ago today, my grandpa passed away from cancer and complications of Alzheimers. I love and miss him so much. He was so special to me.
